The preparation was also subjected to various tests for analysis including moisture content, total ash, acid insoluble ash, water soluble ash, water insoluble ash and sulphated ash.
Other physical tests were also conducted like viscosity, surface tension, pH, acid value, etc. and were compared with some synthetic marketed formulations. The herbal hair oil prepared is on par with the marketed ones in quality and in some cases showing better activity and tolerance. Synthetic preservatives were found to be used in many of the marketed formulations which may lead to adverse reactions like hypersensitivity, but our preparation contains no such synthetic preservatives and utilizes the natural antimicrobial activity of herbs for the extension of shelf life.
